3-Day Rinjani Trek | Sembalun to Senaru

Day 0 (Arrival Day)

• Your driver will pick you up at any place or port within Lombok and drive you to your hotel in Senaru
• After checking in and if time enough, your guide will invite you to visit the two spectacular waterfalls in Senaru (as a bonus and only available if you take our Deluxe package)
• You will get a further short briefing for a better preparation

Day 1: Senaru – Sembalun – 8 to 9 Hours Ascent To The Crater

• Wake up at 6 AM, at 6.30 AM, get your free breakfast at the restaurant
• Meet with your guide and porters
• At 7 AM, your driver will drive you to Sembalun (1,156 m) for 1 hours
• Do a registration at Rinjani National Park office, be sure you bring your passport to the RIC office then get your ticket
• After that, begin the trek to the POST 1 (1,300 m). The trek starts with the gentle ascent walking through open grassland used as cattle grazing by local people. You will arrive after walking for 1 hour 30 minutes, here you can take a short break for 10 – 15 minutes to have drinks or biscuit from your guide
• Continue the tour heading to the POST 2 (1,500 m) for about 1 hours. Here you can take a long break (about 2 hours) for lunch and recover your energy. The route is easy, a bit up and down
• After about 2 hours, you will continue the trek heading to POST 3 (1,800 m), the route is more a bit up and down. You will reach here after ascent about 1 hour from post 2.
• You can take a break here for a few minutes before heading up to the CRATER RIM (2,639 m) where you will spend the night
• The trail up from POST 3 to the Crater rim is the hardest part on the day 1, this part is also called as the regret hill. why? Because many people said, “It is either go back or continues”. when you want to continue, it looks so hard, and if you want to go back, it looks too far.
• After 3 hours 30 minutes, you will finally reach the crater rim. see the Segara Anak Lake with proudness, happy and all your tired will be immediately gone.
• Here all the gears already set up by the guide and your porters, they will prepare and serve your dinner
• Be prepared and sleep early, as you will wake up at 2 AM for a fight to the summit.

Day 2: 3 Hours Ascent To The Summit – 2 Hours Descent To Campsite (Sembalun Crater) – 3 Hours Trek Down To The Lake – And 2 – 3 Hours Ascent To Senaru Crater

• Wake up at 2 AM for a few minutes light breakfast
• Begining the trek up to the SUMMIT (3,726 m), this is the hardest part of the Rinjani trek, struggling for 3 or more hours to reach the summit (depending on your speed)
• The first half an hours walk, you will reach the first obstacle which you have to climb through the sandy area for about 1 hour (with 45 degrees elevation)
• After past the sandy part, you will walk about 1 hour 30 minutes to get the second obstacle which many trekkers are giving up at this point, those at the last 400 m with 45 degrees elevation
• With 45 degrees elevation, loose rock, and gravel at all part of the route which makes it slippery and hard to find a good foothold. here most people say it like Michael Jackson dance (that two step up and one step back down)
• Always do follow your guide, don’t hesitate to ask help, and listen to what your guide saying
• After 3 hours fight up, you will reach the summit, enjoy the amazing landscape, you can see all of Lombok, 3 Gilis, Mount Agung in Bali, and Mount Tambora in Sumbawa
• After picture… picture, and picture, you will descend from the summit to the campsite (Crater rim) about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours (depend on your speed)
• Get your breakfast which is already prepared by your porters
• After breakfast, get prepare yourself to continue the trek down to the Lake and Hot Springs
• The trek down is steep and slippery, be careful, follow and listen to your guide
• After about 3 hours trek down, you will reach the Segara Anak Lake where you can take a break and visit to the Hot Spring in just 10 minutes from the lake while your guide and porters prepare for your lunch
• After lunch and break, the trek will continue to the Senaru Crater Rim about 2 hours 30 minutes – 3 hours trek up
• Once there, you will see one of the spectacular views of sunset and the best viewpoint of Mount Baru Jari at the center of the lake
• While you enjoying the views, the guide will prepare your dinner, and you will spend the second night here

Day 3: Descent For 5 – 6 Hours To Senaru Village – Finish

• Wake up to see the sunrise, get a hot drink and your breakfast
• After breakfast, prepare yourself to continue the trek down to Senaru Village
• You will spend 5 – 6 hours down (including your lunch on the way)
• Once you arrive at the village, your driver is already waiting to pick you up and bring you to the office
• Drop off to your next destination
